Born in Lisbon, 1989. Lives and works in Berlin. Graduated in 2016 after completing an MA in Industrial Design from Central Saint Martins, University of Arts London,UK. Gil has exhibited in Portugal, Greece and the UK to name a few as well as being an artist in residence at Wicked Products and was a speaker at the London International Design Festival 2016.
This piece is composed of a video and a text. This is a video of a window in quarantine. It is the artist’s window but it could also be anybody’s window. The text that follows is a composition of struggling thoughts and an attempt to rationalize the pandemic. The narrator explores his thoughts and doubts, perhaps present in all of our heads, it explores the inherent nostalgia but also the comfort of abandonment and continues to question the politics of isolation. The video is presented in a squared format, drawing parallelism between the window depicted in the video and the metaphorical squared window of Instagram in which we remain connected through social-media consumption.
